Fred Levin was a bold and pioneering lawyer in the field of large-scale tort law, meant to compensate many wrongfully injured people and deter wrongdoing in the future. He demonstrated these skills at the onset of the historic mass litigation against the carcinogenic tobacco industry. He was a major philanthropist and motivator of younger lawyers. He fought big and produced big – a legacy that will last. Our condolences to his family, friends, and colleagues. A major living memorial is much warranted.
