From New York City / Lower Hudson Valley:

  • Take I-95 North or I-87 North (depending on origin) to I-84 East toward Hartford.
  • Exit onto Route 8 North (in Waterbury).
  • Follow Route 8 North through Torrington until it ends in Winsted.
  • At the traffic light where Route 8 meets US 44 / Route 183, turn left onto US 44 West (Main Street).
  • The American Museum of Tort Law is located at 654 Main Street, in the historic Winsted Savings Bank building, on your right.

From Boston / Eastern Massachusetts:

  • Take I-90 West (Mass Pike) to I-84 West toward Hartford.
  • Continue on I-84 West and take the exit for Route 8 North in Waterbury.
  • Follow Route 8 North through Torrington until it ends in Winsted.
  • Turn left onto US 44 West (Main Street).
  • The Museum will be ahead on your right at 654 Main Street.

Local / Regional Access:

  • From Hartford / Central CT: Take Route 44 West directly into Winsted. Continue through downtown; the Museum is on the right at 654 Main Street.
  • From Torrington / Litchfield: Follow Route 8 North until it ends in Winsted. Turn left onto Route 44 West (Main Street). The Museum is ahead on your right.
  • From Massachusetts (North): Travel south on Route 8. When Route 8 ends at the traffic light in Winsted, turn right onto US 44 West. The Museum will be ahead on the right.

Parking

  • Ample Free Parking On-Site: Visitors may park in the Museum’s dedicated lot directly connected to our building, making access easy and convenient.
  • Additional free on-street parking is also available along Main Street and nearby side streets.
  • Tour buses may load/unload in the Museum parking lot.
