In recognition of Juneteenth, historian John Mills of the Alex Breanne Corporation will present a program exploring the histories and contributions of Connecticut’s African-American families. The presentation will highlight the lived experiences of four Connecticut families, examining their roles during the American Revolution and the Civil War. Attendees will also learn about the family of Primus Amme(s) of Norwich, Connecticut, whose story reveals a powerful and often overlooked history of service, sacrifice, and resilience. Following the presentation, the Winsted Civil War Soldiers’ Monument will be open for visitors from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM.
